Marilyn Mazur at the International Percussion Festival in Catalonia

The Danish percussionist Marilyn Mazur is one of the most creative and innovative musicians on the contemporary scene. She was discovered in the eighties by Miles Davis and since then has collaborated with Jan Grabarek, Gil Evans, Wayne Shorter and many more. She has also won the Jazzpar Prize, the most important one in the jazz world in Europe.

On this occasion she has participated in the International Percussion Festival in Catalonia where she has performed at the Auditorio de Barcelona (11 February 2011) and at the Auditorio de Girona (12 February 2011) accompanied by Nils Petter Molvaer on trumpet and Eivind Aarset on guitar.

Artists like Marilyn Mazur are especially loved by Call & Play as their curiosity to explore all kinds of sounds and possible rhythm combinations requires a much more complicated percussion set than is usually provided and this gives us added motivation in our work.
