Mulatu Astakte, Ethio-Jazz in the Sala Apolo, Barcelona

Mulatu Astatke, vibrafonist, composer and arranger, is a musician born in 1943 in Ethiopia and trained in different cities such as London, New York or Boston. He was the first African student to enter the prestigious Berklee School of Music and is considered the father of Ethio-Jazz, a style that arose from the combination of jazz, Latin influences and traditional ethiopian music.

On February 9 he offered an intense concert in the Sala Apolo, in Barcelona, at the head of a group of eight musicians. Mulatu Astarke alternated the vibraphone with the piano Rhodes and the percussions.
