Call & Play is the reference backline company in the Iberian Peninsula, with 30 years of experience in the live music sector. We specialize in the rental of musical instruments, DJ booths, acoustic pianos, AV and stage equipment.

Our inventory exceeds 10,000 references and is one of the most complete in Europe. We have a carefully treated stock of vintage equipment and we are constantly expanding our catalog with the latest models of the best brands, which allows us to meet the most demanding riders.

We have a permanent team of more than 60 people who work in harmony with an extended network of trusted technicians. With the intention of being close to our customers, we have 9 operational headquarters in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Euskadi, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Majorca, Ibiza and Zaragoza.

We have the largest backline stock in the Iberian Peninsula. With more than 10,000 references organized between backline, piano, DJ, audiovisual and stage equipment sections, our catalog is at the most complete level in Europe.

We also offer technical support during the performance of the show, flexible transportation service and backline advice and coordination service at the events.


Our rigorous methodology is oriented to the success of the events in which we collaborate.

When we quote a rig, it is automatically reserved, which allows us to supply the proposed material to the events and provide security to the customers. To ensure the perfect functioning of the equipment, a double check and review is carried out (upon entering our warehouse and when preparing for the event). In addition, our maintenance managers, who are specialized in our different sections, perform periodic reviews. Finally, when we build a rig for an event, we double the most critical material, adding free spare units to ensure a smooth performance.

We are a team of more than 100 professionals that combines the experience of those who have been in the company for more than 20 years, with constant incorporations of young people properly trained and competent.

Our live technicians are a guarantee on stage: their combination of musical preparation and technical training allows them to understand the needs of the professional musician and the production team.

We are committed to continuous training. That is why we organize backline courses to give a comprehensive basic vision, along with more specific ones, such as monographic DJ courses, valve amplifiers, radio frequencies and walkies, synthesizers and workstations, etc.


We have operational headquarters in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Eibar, Valencia, Malaga, Seville and Zaragoza. Thanks to this geographical structure we place ourselves in a situation of proximity to the main entertainment markets.

Our history

  1. 1992

    Call & Play inicia sus actividades en Madrid, como empresa de alquiler de instrumentos musicales y backline, con la voluntad de sumarse al grupo de proveedores pioneros que trabajan para profesionalizar la música en directo y elevarla a los estándares anglosajones. La Expo de Sevilla 92 constituye el primer examen en grandes eventos. Call & Play define una filosofía de trabajo basada en el cumplimiento de los compromisos y en la apuesta por el crecimiento adecuado a la exigencia de un sector en gran expansión.

  2. 1995

    The first edition of the Benicasim International Festival is celebrated, initially called the Benicasim Independent Festival. The main contributions to that first edition were The Charlatans, Supergrass and Los Planetas. Call & Play was the backline provider of that first edition and has remained so until today.

  3. 1996

    The Doctor Music Festival was the first macro-festival held in the Spanish state. His first edition took place in Escalarre, Lleida, in July of that year, and there we were also as backline providers.

  4. 1998

    Since 1998, the music instrument shop is separated from the rental section, and their respective facilities are improved. The pro-audio rental section is also given a decisive boost.

  5. 1999

    In 1999, Call & Play Euskadi was born as the first headquarters outside Madrid. The great tradition and musical activity of Euskadi, with three of the most important jazz festivals in Europe (Getxo, Vitoria, Donosti) gives meaning to a project that seeks to optimize the service and approach the customer where it may be most useful. On the other hand, Call & Play Madrid changes to a new larger and more functional place.

  6. 2000

    In November 2000, the instrument store moved to the Colombia Shopping Center, in the Madrid neighborhood of Hortaleza. This transfer allows significant improvements in the design of the shop space, such as the installation of a soundproof booth for tests and a significant increase in the supply of instruments.

  7. 2003

    In 2003 Call & Play Barcelona opens its doors. A new step characterized by the increase and improvement in the supply of services begins. Call & Play introduces in its catalog complementary material, such as stage risers, music stands and other items that together will form the Stage Equipment section.

  8. 2004

    The instrument rental section for students is launched. In order to facilitate access to music, we started a monthly rental program of quality instruments at affordable prices, with option to purchase.

  9. 2005

    In 2005, the rental section of Madrid changed premises again, occupying a 1,000m2 warehouse in Alcobendas. A boost is given to the sound section that stops focusing only on recording studios to open up to live sound systems.

  10. 2006

    In November 2006, we opened a new headquarters for the backline rental section, this time in Valencia. Call & Play Valencia expands the circle that, starting in Madrid and Euskadi, and passing through Barcelona and Valencia, configures the circuit of the musical activity and the most important tours of the Peninsula.

  11. 2008

    The acoustic piano section, which in the previous years has evolved into a definite and dynamic project, places Call & Play among the main piano rental companies, with the added advantage of being able to integrate this service with backline rental.

  12. 2009

    Call & Play Zaragoza, the fifth headquarters of the company, was born in October, with the aim of covering the festivals and concerts of this geographical area.

  13. 2010

    Call & Play opens its doors in Seville, offering its products and services to customers in Andalusia and consolidating itself as the only global backline company in the Iberian Peninsula, with the most efficient and complete rental service for musical instruments for tours.

  14. 2011

    The step for more internationalization of the company begins. It is the year in which concerts in Portugal become habitual, with the collaboration of a magnificent and extensive team of Portuguese technicians. On the other hand, jobs in southern France become part of the day-to-day life of Call & Play Euskadi.

  15. 2012

    We celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Call & Play, an occasion to update our commitment to quality and commitment and face the future with renewed energy.

  16. 2013

    Call & Play Portugal begins a new step and is permanently established in Lisbon, with offices and warehouse fully prepared to serve both small events and large festivals. An experienced team of professionals is incorporated into the workforce and the company becomes a top quality option in the music sector in Portugal.

  17. 2015

    Call & Play Barcelona moves from the Olympic Village, where it was since its inauguration in 2003, to Caracas Street, in La Maquinista district. The change of premises resolves the limitations of the warehouse and improves logistics capacity. Call & Play Lisboa is fully established and is growing in clients and events. It becomes an exclusive supplier of festivals such as Superbock Superrock, Mexefest, Southwest Meo, etc.

  18. 2016

    In April 2016, Call & Play began operating in Ibiza, with a wide range of material that can be expanded, if necessary, with equipment traveling from the peninsula.
    In Call & Play Lisboa, a change of address is essential : we moved to a place with a warehouse of more than 600m2 and spacious offices. Also Call & Play Madrid, due to space needs, has to expand its warehouse by incorporating another warehouse and reaching 2,300m2.
    As for the catalog of services, an important boost is given to the historic sound section, which also integrates Visual Media to form a new division of Audiovisuals, with a management team that gives a specific orientation towards avant-garde technologies and towards the integral service to corporate and social events.

  19. 2017

    The year 2017 initiates a boom of summer festivals that will be maintained in the following years. Call & Play adapts itself to the needs of this environment by vigorously expanding the backline stock in all warehouses and incorporating new professionals in all locations. Among other actions, Call & Play Málaga is launched, with a complete offer of backline, DJ and stage risers, and the new Yamaha S3X and S7X Premium Series pianos reach the Acoustic Pianos section.

  20. 2018

    Call & Play Barcelona local change. The new warehouse has 2,000m2 of warehouse, which represents an improvement in both storage space and operating space, essential to continue providing good service.

  21. 2019

    2019 begins with a visit to the NAMM, an opportunity to strengthen relationships with large suppliers and thus continue to increase our service capacity. After a summer with a considerable activity of tours, concerts, cruises and festivals, in October 2019 Call & Play participates as an exhibitor at BIME TECH, the new space that opens inside the BIME'19 as a meeting place for festival suppliers.

  22. 2020

    In 2020, facing the global Covid19 pandemic, Call & Play actively supports various initiatives. The sector is coming together to become more visible, with movements such as # Apoyemoslamúsica, # Apoyoamoslamúsica, # syntécnicosnohaycultura, # 17salertaroja, #hacemoseventos, #alertarojaeventos, #wemakeevents.
    Under the slogan "culture is safe", and complying with all health security measures, we continue to bring music to the streets, participating, for example, in the Cycles of support for live music in the Community of Madrid, Les Nits at the Forum and the Pedralbes adapted festival in Barcelona, the Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival, the Paradores “Musical Caprices”, the Starlite in Marbella, or the Granada Sound Day, among others.
    We have also reorganized the musical instruments store and moved the Malaga headquarters to a new, larger and more operational warehouse, with a significant increase in the stock of instruments, preparing ourselves to provide a better service to our customers in the Andalusia area.

  23. 2021

    In 2021 we have applied the improvements that we were able to analyze and plan more calmly in times of the pandemic. Among them, we highlight the renovation of our website, which we want to be the best presentation of our company and also a useful tool for our customers, who can consult our online catalog and easily contact all our offices. Speaking of headquarters, we have moved the one in Seville to a new location, doubling the warehouse and office space and with better logistics access. The piano section, which until now had stock in Madrid and Barcelona, has incorporated a new stock in the Levante area, located in the Valencia headquarters, and another in Andalusia, in the recently opened Call & Play Seville warehouse . The latter also has a magnificent piano maintenance and restoration workshop, under the direction of Cristóbal Soria.
